New Planting
This is one of the three elements of the Forestry Resources Grant. The grant has been successful in encouraging landowners to plant new woodlands, especially in areas of former dereliction and in creating new woodlands for community benefit. As of July 2005, over 300 hectares of new woodland had been awarded funding, with a number of applications in the pipeline. We expect to reach our target of 440 hectares of new woodland planting, on the ground, by 2008. Some of the grant allocation is still unspent, so we are still open to enquiries from interested landowners.

What are the grants for?
Grants have created new woodlands on underused open space and derelict land, near to local communities and along transport corridors. Landowners have been assisted with :-
· Management plan preparation
· Ground remediation works and drainage works
· Tree purchase, planting and protection
· Community involvement & public access works
· Habitat improvement
· Schemes across whole neighbourhoods
