English Woodland Grant Scheme

Harvesting, Marketing and Processing

This is one of the three elements of the Forestry Resources Grants, aimed helping at wood-based businesses, to grow and develop their products in South Yorkshire. As of July 2005, over £300.000 of funding has helped a range of businesses and organisations, including timber contractors, furniture makers and sawmill owners, Grants have also hepled to develop a growing woodfuel cluster by helping to fund feasibility studies, demonstrations and the first modern wood fuel boiler for the RSPB. What are the grants for?

Grants of up to 50% will be paid to businesses in South Yorkshire to encourage the growth and development of timber industries. Grants could include:

· Preparation of a business management plan · Business start up
· Purchase of machinery or equipment
· Relocation of business or purchase of new premises
· The establishment of resource sharing schemes
· Marketing campaigns
· Research into and development of new timber processes or products
· Wood fuel based businesses
