25/09/07 Makita branches out at South Yorkshire Wood Fair

The South Yorkshire Forest is pleased to announce that leading tool brand Makita will sponsor the Chainsaw Carving Arena at the South Yorkshire Wood Fair in Endcliffe Park, Sheffield on October 6th.

Well know for its power tool range, Makita also produce a full range of chainsaws and protective clothing which they will be showcasing on the day.

Timber Industries Officer for the Community Forest, Alistair Farr commented:

“This is the first time the event has received sponsorship, we’re absolutely delighted. To get a high profile company like Makita on board recognises the expansion of the timber industries in South Yorkshire, and also how important the Wood Fair is as a way of raising the profile of our home grown timber and talent.”

The popular event - previously funded by Objective 1 - needs to become self financing if it is to be held again next year and beyond. The South Yorkshire Forest Partnership hopes to build further positive relationships with businesses such as Makita to enable this.

South Yorkshire Wood Fair 2007 is organised by the South Yorkshire Forest Partnership and Sheffield City Council.
